Problem observed through need assessment survey
Based on our survey of the area less than 50% of children in low income communities have access to a small park as playspace near their home.
DISE data only 61% schools have a playground
Also based on a primary survey conducted by us children from disadvantaged background have only 60% daily average calorie intake from the recommended levels.
According to report by Edusports 1/3 rd of school going children don’t have a healthy BMI.
The global survey conducted by Active Healthy Kidz approximately half of children and youth are meeting physical activity participation standards.
In terms of structured sports programs affordability is an issue. The average monthly expense of such sports programs will cost 50% of the monthly income for the families in such communities.
Our formal physical education is a subject (optional) only in grade 11th-12th and the school PE time of 40 mins in a week is far beyond the recommended playing time of average 5 hrs/ week.
Moreover the activities conducted in those 40 mins or beyond school are focusing only on speed or stamina which is only a small part of sports education.
