HelpAge India works for ‘the cause and care of disadvantaged older persons to improve their quality of life’. It voices their concerns, so they can lead secure & dignified lives. Working since 1978, it runs numerous programs on-ground addressing elder needs and advocates for their rights, such as their right to Universal pension, quality healthcare, food security, action against Elder Abuse and many more at a national, state and societal level with Central and State governments. It advocates for elder friendly policies and their implementation thereof.

Currently there are an estimated 106 million elderly in India. HelpAge aims to serve elders in a holistic manner, enabling them to live active, dignified and healthier lives. Therefore, it provides relief through various agecare & healthcare interventions such as - it runs one of the largest mobile healthcare programs through its Mobile Healthcare Units spanning the country providing free healthcare services to destitute elders, provides Physiocare & also Cancer care services to the terminally ill. It helps elders become self-reliant and independent through the formation of Elder-Self-Help Groups in rural India, conducts cataract surgeries to restore their sight, looks after their basic needs though its Support-a-Gran ration program, provides Homecare support to bed ridden patients, it also runs a robust Elder Helpline service across the country and provides active ageing opportunities. It works hand-in-hand with Senior Citizens Associations and empowers seniors through Digital Literacy workshops, so they can lead independent and active lives.

It has been working actively during the COVID 19 pandemic, providing much need medicines, ration, free meals, protective hygiene kits and made home visits to immobilized elders. It has reached out to over 10 lakh elders and their families, destitute & homeless persons and migrants across India, though it’s various relief initiatives during the COVID 19 pandemic.
