Counsel To Secure Justice

Counsel to Secure Justice (CSJ) is a registered non-profit organization under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013. CSJ also has Section 12A and Section 80G registrations under the Income Tax Act. CSJ began operations in Delhi, India in 2012, in response to high levels of child sexual abuse.

The mandate of Counsel to Secure Justice is to ensure that children impacted by violence in India have access to justice systems that repair harm, empower the vulnerable and create sustainable support systems, keeping each survivor’s needs central to the process. Thus, violence against children and child protection are the core areas where CSJ is working.

Currently, CSJ is providing legal representation as well as psycho-social support to victims of child sexual abuse. Since its inception, CSJ has represented and worked with over 200 victims of child sexual abuse. CSJ is also one of the few organisations working toward developing restorative justice systems and restorative practice inspired models in the juvenile justice system of India. Currently, CSJ is working children in conflict with law directly to provide them with counselling services and use restorative models to assist them with reintegration into the mainstream. Thus CSJ works both with Children in Need of Care and Protection and Children in Conflict with Law to assist them in handling the consequences of harm.
